  • About 1 in 4 women and nearly 1 in 10 men have experienced physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime and reported some form of IPV (Intimate Partner Violence).
  • Over 43 million women and 38 million men experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

The above information reflects current data gathered by the Center for Disease Control.

Children of abusive relationships often end up in similar circumstances themselves. I was one of those people. In 1999 while the court system assisted me with charging and deporting an abuser, I took the opportunity to educate myself, survive, and thrive. By eventually earning this certificate in 2007, I'm able to counsel those seeking relief from domestic situations. For several years I was a crisis-line volunteer who took calls from victims desperately seeking urgent help. My goal was to help people find shelter, medical attention, ways to safely leave the home, community resources such as food, or just explain why this was happening and remind them it wasn't their fault. I'm a state Mandated Reporter in both Washington state and Arizona, which requires the reporting of child abuse, elder abuse, etc. if it is personally witnessed.

OCTOBER is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it is represented by a purple ribbon.

Visit the LINKS Page to find websites where you may learn more about Domestic Violence (DV): what it is, how it starts and how to help community non-profits like 'D.A.W.N.' in Washington, 'A New Leaf' in Arizona and other core organizations who are doing all they can to keep homes, families and survivors safe.
